Summary of Experience:
Hi! I’m Katie (she/her). I’m a Colorado gal, born and raised, and I’m hoping to spend many more years living, playing, and loving this state! I graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and a minor in Business Administration. I spent several years working for a summer camp where I learned that there is a sacredness to spaces where one can feel fully known and loved. I have witnessed the same is true within the realms of the counseling room. After some challenging life transitions, I found myself at Denver Seminary pursuing a dual Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. I have worked with youth in schools, summer camps, and a range of clinical environments providing education around topics including anxiety, depression, self-efficacy, and suicide prevention. Additionally, I have experience with young adults in clinical and non-clinical settings. I am beyond grateful for the path that has led me to become a therapist and hope to be a lifelong learner as I step into my future career!

Philosophy:
I strive for my practices to be trauma-informed, client-centered, culturally aware, and holistic in terms of caring for clients as a whole person. My goal is to create a therapeutic relationship that is safe, collaborative, and resilient. When there is a safe context to understand ourselves and others, shame is uprooted and replaced with compassion. I have a core belief that every human is innately good and has a valuable story to share. From a young age we are formed by the environments we live in as well as the relationships we experience, which is why my work is grounded in attachment theory alongside a systems approach. I believe that emotion focused, and body-based modalities are key to authentic healing.
I hope clients experience transformation so they may discover deep in their bones, “I am good. I am enough. I am whole.” I vow to be eternally moved by the beauty and sorrow of my clients’ stories, not because I have to but – because I get to.
I move through life paying attention to the Divine around me, slowly and with purpose. I take care of myself by spending time with friends and family, while also playing outside. I enjoy backpacking, skiing, fly fishing, and running when my body says to!
